Joe DiNapoli

Joe DiNapoli is a veteran trader with over twenty-five years of solid market trading experience. He is also a dogged and thorough researcher, an internationally recognized lecturer, and a widely acclaimed author. Joe’s formal education was in electrical engineering and economics. He received his informal education in “the Bunker,” an aptly named trading room packed full of electronics and communications equipment. This is where most of Joe’s early research began. Joe is one of today’s most sought-after experts for his exhaustive investigations into displaced moving averages, his creation of the proprietary “Oscillator Predictor,” and in particular, his practical and unique method of applying Fibonacci ratios to the price axis. A registered CTA, Joe has taught his techniques in the major financial capitals of Europe and Asia, as well as in the United States. His articles have appeared in a wide variety of technical publications across the nation and worldwide. In 1996 alone, Joe taught capacity audiences in twenty-three financial centers around the globe. Joe was a contributing author to High Performance Futures Trading: Power Lessons From the Masters, selected 1990 book of the year by Super Trader’s Almanac. He also wrote the Fibonacci Money Management and Trend Analysis In-Home Trading Course, which has been lauded by professional and novice traders alike. Joe published his newest and most complete work, DiNapoli Levels, in 1997. The book has been hailed by Futures Truth as “one of the best new technical books to come along in a long time.” When Chuck LeBeau (Technical Traders Bulletin) asked his readers for names of successful traders they wanted to see interviewed, Joe DiNapoli’s name came up more often than any other. The Atlanta Constitution cited Joe’s work by referring to the “magical power” of Fibonacci ratios in the marketplace. Joe has often made use of this magic to make both startling and uncannily accurate market predictions, particularly in stock market indexes and interest rate futures. As the president of Coast Investment Software, Inc., located on Siesta Key in Sarasota, Florida, Joe continues to develop and deploy “high accuracy” trading methods, using a combination of leading and lagging indicators in unique and innovative ways. He conducts a limited number of private tutorials each year at his trading room and he also makes his trading approach available to others via software and trading course materials.
Advanced Fibonacci Applications and the Price Axis. (Audio)
Advanced Fibonacci Applications and the Price Axis in the Forex, Stock Index, and Interest Rate Futures. Joe’s techniques result in significantly higher percentages of winning trades through more accurate stop placement, market entry and profit objective location. Joe’s high-accuracy trading approach depends on the proper mix of both leading (Fibonacci) and lagging indicators. You will learn where and how to apply Fibonacci analysis. This context determines the real bottom-line difference. Joe devotes a significant part of his lecture to trend analysis and directional techniques using variations of Stochastics, MACD and displaced moving averages. Technical analysis software packages can simulate all of these unique and specific variations through pre-programmed studies or by inserting the formulas Joe provides for you.
Applying Fibonacci Analysis to Price Action – Part 1 (Audio)
This workshop teaches you the most practical way to apply Fibonacci ratios to the price axis. Joe is recognized around the world for his understanding of the subject. Discover how to mix leading (Fibonacci) and lagging indicators for a high-accuracy, low-risk trading approach. Find out how to enter strong running market moves “safely” and where to place stops for maximum protection and minimum exposure. See how to calculate pre-defined profit objective points and how to employ the three-period money management rule to maximize profit and minimize heartache. Hear why specific displaced moving averages are a superior trend-containment indicator and why a unique application of the MACD/ Stochastic trend indicator yields superior trading results. At the end of this session, you will understand the proper and practical application of Fibonacci ratios to the price axis and you will have access to a trading style that has the capacity to produce an exceptionally high number of winning trades.
Applying Fibonacci Analysis to Price Action – Part 2 (Audio)
Building on his 1996 presentation, Joe expands his discussion of Fibonacci analysis and continues to earn his reputation as a leading expert in this area. For the first time outside of the private seminar setting, Joe shows the full implementation of the most accurate directional signal in his trading arsenal. This signal is called the first penetration trade. His students have dubbed it “bread and butter“ for its ability to produce a high percentage of winning trades.

Ian Copsey

Ian Copsey, a specialist for Bridge and a technical analysis instructor for the Kyodo News Service in Tokyo, began his career in markets thirteen years ago working for a British clearing bank. In 1988, Ian assumed responsibility for the bank’s technical analysis in Hong Kong. He later returned to London to establish a dedicated technical analysis desk for the bank. Ian began working for Dow Jones Telerate in August of 1993. Since then, he has developed his own momentum indicators and created Momentum Bands. Ian emphasizes using various forms of market analysis, rather than relying on a single approach, in order to strengthen forecasting techniques. He teaches this approach at regular seminars in a number of Asian cities.
Integrating Elliott Wave into an Analytical Framework (Audio)
Ian uses the Elliott Wave Principle heavily in his own analysis, but acknowledges the frustration of losing track of wave counts and the frequent criticism of the subjectivity of Elliott Wave interpretations. He shows you how to cope with these problems. In his presentation, Ian describes methods of integrating Elliott Wave into a series of analytical techniques. In this seminar you will learn to analyze cycles and to use one of Ian’s own indicators. This indicator can guide a trader into identifying significant market peaks and troughs that can identify important support and resistance levels.

Mark Chaikin

Mark Chaikin founded Bomar Securities L.P. in 1989 and developed the first real-time analytics workstation for stock traders and portfolio managers. Instinet Corporation acquired Bomar in 1992, and the Bomar workstation evolved into Instinet’s Research and Analytics workstation. Research and Analytics combines Instinet’s electronic trading capability with electronic technical and fundamental research. Prior to founding Bomar Securities L.P., Marc served as a first vice president of Drexel Burnham Lambert and as vice president in charge of operations at Tucker Anthony and R.L. Day. Marc has lectured extensively (in both the U.S. and abroad) on the use of computers to develop disciplined trading and investment strategies. He has written a number of articles on stock market-related information systems and was the subject of a lengthy interview in the January 1994 issue of Stocks and Commodities magazine. He is currently senior vice president and director of Instinet Research.
How to Find Big Winners Using Persistency of Money Flow (Audio)
Mark’s presentation traces the evolution of volume analysis from raw volume, moving averages, OBV, and accumulation/distribution through money flow and money flow percent, culminating in the concept of Persistency of Money Flow. Persistency of Money Flow combines range analysis and volume into a very quantifiable indicator, providing traders with a powerful technique for both short and intermediate term stock selection and a powerful supply/demand indicator. Mark’s workshop shows you how to combine Money Flow Persistence with relative strength analysis (to a broad market average) to find big winners. He discusses specific entry techniques, analyzing them as entry triggers for these stock selection tools. He also discusses the relevance of fundamental data (such as earnings growth, earnings surprise, and earnings estimate revision) as it pertains to this type of technical analysis. Finally, he presents a number of case studies that show the application of these techniques.
Tushar Chande

Tushar Chande, a principal of Tuscarora Capital Management (a registered CTA based in Chicago), is a scientist, inventor, author, and trader who has traded most of the major futures markets for his own account. He has a Ph.D. in engineering and holds nine U.S. patents. Tushar and Stanley Kroll co-authored the widely acclaimed book The New Technical Trader. Tushar also wrote Beyond Technical Analysis, another pivotal book on technical trading. Both books were published by John Wiley and Sons. Tushar is a contributing editor of Stocks and Commodities magazine and has also published numerous papers in engineering journals. Tushar created the “$ecure” trade management software package, and is recognized for his expertise in designing innovative trading systems.
Developing & Implementing Pattern-Based Trading Systems (Audio)
Most traders, even those who are relatively new to technical analysis, realize that good, sustainable trading patterns which can be effectively back-tested are extremely rare. For example, most of the candlestick patterns do not test well on historical data. Tushar Chande discusses how to develop, test, and implement pattern-based trading systems so that they become effective trading tools. Tushar Chande describes a bottom-fishing pattern for S&P 500 futures. For stock traders, Tushar shows you a variant of the bottom-fishing pattern that works with uncanny precision. This pattern is an example of how one can take a visual observation and convert it into a dependable trading approach. Those who trade indices, equities, or futures will benefit from many of Tushar Chande’s concepts. He shows how different exit strategies can produce very different system performances, and looks “under the hood” of various strategies, thus taking his analysis beyond the usual performance summary. In this session, Tushar Chande also examines another patern called Channel-Breakout and Pullback (or CB-PB). He shows you how you can easily adapt this pattern to suit your trading preferences for a variety of tradable items. Finally, Tushar Chande rounds out the discussion with the Gold/Bond system, an intermarket approach for trading the bond market. This system is an example of how traders can use a related market to develop information about the “environment” for a trade.
How to Build Both a Trading System and a System For Trading (Audio)
Building on his 1996 presentation, Tushar Chande discusses how to develop, test, and implement pattern-based trading systems so that they become effective trading tools. Tushar Chande uses Bridge-Telerate TradestationTM to illustrate his discussion with numerous examples from the futures, securities, foreign exchange and equities markets. Tushar first discusses system development and evaluation. How do you know how good your trading system is compared to the systems used by other traders? Tushar Chande shows you how to intelligently construct a system and how to use benchmarks (specific points of reference), as well as other procedures, to properly evaluate your own and other trading systems. He demonstrates how different exit strategies can produce very different system performances. Tushar Chande also explores the underlying rationale of various strategies, and takes his analysis beyond the usual performance summary. Tushar Chande’s session also examines the many issues affecting how a trading system is implemented by you, the trader. Tushar Chande feels strongly that you can only trade what you believe. Hence, his workshops look beyond patterns into the many issues that affect how you implement a trading system. He covers topics such as setting initial stops, money management and risk control. More importantly, Tushar discusses the emotional aspect of trading and shows you how to trade with both your head and your heart. He shows you how to build both a trading system and a system for trading.

Pat Cifaldi

Pat Cifaldi, CMT, placed his first buy order in the stock market in 1969 using the advice of his grandfather’s broker. After working his way through college, earning a degree in finance in 1976, he took a job as a stockbroker with Dean Witter. While there he worked with Jack Kunkel, one of the early CompuTrac members. Through his association with Kunkel and people like Tim Slater, Harry Laubscher, Jim MacCarthy, and Joe Granville, Pat was introduced to technical analysis. Pat left the sales side of the business in 1985 to become a portfolio manager and director of research for a money management firm where he utilized technical analysis in all of his recommendations. Along with research, Pat directed the hedging of over $340 million in asset/liability gap risk. He also managed a $45 million fixed-income trading portfolio. Over the past decade, Pat has traded U.S. government Treasury Bills. For over two years, he wrote a weekly market letter for Bank One Milwaukee (The Tactician), which analyzed the fixed-income and other markets from a technical point of view. He has written several articles for Stocks and Commodities magazine and various newspapers and was regularly quoted by Reuters European news service regarding the technical nature of the U.S. bond market. He has lectured on technical analysis across the United States and has taught college-level classes on finance and technical analysis in Milwaukee and Kansas City. Pat was chartered by the Market Technicians Association in 1990. Today, Pat serves as a security trading officer for the Commerce Bank Investment Management Group, a $5 billion organization located in Kansas City, where Pat’s primary focus is on the municipal bond, fixed income, and equity markets.
Volume Studies, the Financial Volume Index, Creating Your Own (Audio)
Pat shows you how to use volume studies in your decision-making process. His discussion gives you an in-depth look at several key technical indicators and their applications, including classical volume studies, on-balance volume and their offshoots, and volume index building. He describes how he developed his Financial Volume Index, which measures a cross-section of interest-sensitive investments in both price moves and volume, and he shows you how you can use the FI as a tool to analyze the futures and fixed-income markets. Finally, Pat teaches you how to develop your own “customized” volume index, whether you trade financials or equities. He guides you through the development process and provides you with valuable insights on how to recognize and use the internal strengths and weaknesses the index and the investments within it represent.

Walter Bressert

Walter Bressert has been using market cycles to trade stocks and commodities since the 1970s when his HAL Commodity Cycles was one of the most widely known advisory services focusing on cycles.
Walter Bressert who is credited with bringing cycles into the futures markets, became interested in cycles in the late 1960s. He studied everything available at the time, including volumes of information published by the Foundation for the Study of Cycles, and Jim Hurst’s classic book on cycles, “The Profit Magic of Stock Transaction Timing”. He also attended several of Jim’s workshops. Walter was a trader, and in applying the concepts from Hurst’s book and workshops, and the Foundation, he realized that something was missing. There was plenty of theory on how to use cycles, but no quantification, or structure, that would allow him to trade the markets cyclically with confidence…
In 1994, Walter Bressert developed award-winning software that over the years has evolved into his current software ProfitTrader™. Based on his timing methodology, ProfitTrader identifies trend and trend reversals, plus generates mechanical BUY/SELL signals. The Timing Bands he built for the markets in the early 70s are still valid and much improved. The addition of oscillators and his techniques to enhance oscillator performance greatly improve the ability of anyone – beginner or expert – to trade tops and bottoms of cycles as they are occurring . The real key to trading with cycles is to first identify trend direction, then buy bottoms if the trend is up, and sell tops if the trend is down. The interaction of cycles within cycles shows specific patterns that help identify trend reversals as they are occurring, and in iday trading it is these trend reversals that are often followed by the big intraday moves.
Walter was a director and president of the non-profit Foundation for the Study of Cycles. He has lectured internationally for more than thirty years and written articles for the Wall Street Journal, Barron’s, Futures magazine and the “Commodity Research Bureau Yearbook”. He was a contributing editor to the Financial News Network and has appeared on CNBC from time-to-time as a guest speaker.
ProfitTrader™ is aaddon / plug-ins for TradeStation™, Equis/MetaStock™ and eSignal™.
Controlled Trading (Audio)
Most traders react to the market, their brokers, and their emotions. When you react because the unexpected has occurred, you are out of control. When you respond as part of a pre-determined game plan, you are in control. In this workshop, Walt will share with you his 4-Step Program of Controlled Trading that will keep you in control of your trading. Part 1 – Market Analysis. “The trend is your friend;” and not only do we want to know what the trend is, we want to anticipate when the trend will reverse. With cycle analysis, you can both define the trend (long-term, intermediate-term, short-term) and anticipate tops and bottoms (both major tops and trading tops). Part 2 – Oscillator Analysis. Both cycles and oscillators are dependent upon time and price. Quite often cycle highs and lows are accompanied by oscillator extremes. When you know these extreme levels, tops and bottoms can be identified with confidence. Walt also presents easy-to-use techniques to fine-tune the oscillators and build tradable oscillator/cycle combinations to buy bottoms and sell tops. The amazing 3-10 oscillator is a simple and powerful indicator of tops and bottoms. Part 3 – Market Entry and Exit. To be in control, we must first determine the time frame for which we are trading. All too often we use a short-term entry technique and a sort-term stop while planning a long-term trade. By defining the time frames before we enter the market, we can apply the correct market entry and exit techniques using weekly, daily, and intra-day techniques to buy on weakness and strength, and to sell on strength and weakness. Part 4 – Controlled Risk Money Management. Walt’s “controlled risk” money management will show you how to stay in control of the trade at all times, from planning the trade to market exit.
Cycles and Oscillators (Audio)
You will leave Walter’s workshop with a working knowledge of how to combine cycles and oscillators to identify cycle tops and bottoms as they occur plus five specific oscillator/cycle combinations that you can immediately apply to the markets – weekly, daily and intra-day. The workshop is presented in two sections. CYCLES – In the first part of his workshop, Walt will explain the four dominant cycles and discuss techniques to find these cycles in the market. The development and use of timing bands and fibonaci ratios will be examined to determine the timing of the cycles and specific techniques will be illustrated for determining the future price levels of cycle tops and bottoms. OSCILLATORS – Several techniques will be presented to improve the performance of oscillators, often turning a mediocre one into a powerhouse. Walter will explain how to combine oscillators with cycles to identify tops and bottoms as they are occurring, and will show specific oscillator cycle combinations to identify cycle tops and bottoms mechanically.
Reducing Risk Using Cycles and Oscillators in the Futures and Stock Markets (Audio)
Walter Bressert continues his discussion of long-term cycles as well as smaller, tradable cycles found in trending markets. In the TAG 19 presentation, Walter takes examples from both the futures and stock markets to teach you his methodology and techniques for recognizing trends and identifying cycles. Walt shows you how to buy bottoms and sell tops. He shows you how to use these tools to successfully analyze and trade markets. He also shows you high probability mechanical buy/sell signals applicable to any market, in any time frame. Finally, he provides you with simple trading and money management techniques to reduce your risk and increase profitability.
Seven Techniques to Improve Performance (Audio)
Walter Bressert’s workshop has two parts. The first is a presentation of the seven techniques to improve performance. You will learn simple techniques that will improve the performance of any oscillator, how to combine oscillators with cycles, and how to take the judgment out of identifying tops and bottoms (no think ‘ums). The second part of his workshop will apply these techniques to develop oscillator/cycle combinations in the S&P Index and gold markets. Then recent history will be examined to mechanically identify cycle tops and bottoms. Time and price projections will then be made for cycle highs and lows due in the weeks and months following the seminar.
Trading Techniques to Buy Bottoms and Sell Tops (Audio)
Big reversal tops and bottoms occur at the peaks and valleys of long term moves. Smaller and tradable tops and bottoms also occur in trending moves. With appropriate timing and a coninuing trend, buying in an uptrend or selling in a downtrend is low risk. Walt will show you how to identify trends and trade bottoms and tops with three mechanical trading techniques. You will acquire specific techniques for identifying trends and you will learn how to trade with the trend. You will also learn how to anticipate and trade trend reversals. Walt will show you mechanical buy/sell signals applicable to any market, in any time frame. Finally, he will provide you with some simple, profitable money management techniques to reduce risk and take advantage of the big moves when they occur.
Weekly/Daily, Daily/Intra-Day – Energy Patterns (Audio)
We all want to buy low and sell high – to buy bottoms and sell tops. Energy Patterns identify low risk tops and bottoms by combining time, oscillator patterns, price patterns and market geometry. With Energy Patterns you can trade with the trend, buying weakness in a rising market and selling strength in a declining market. Weekly/Daily Energy Patterns identify major tops and bottoms and give low risk entry and exit signals. Daily/Intra-Day Energy Patterns fine tune entry and exits, often greatly reducing dolar risk. You will leave Walt’s session with Energy Patterns that you can trade in any market and use to develop mechanical systems for any time.

Mark Boucher

Mark Boucher began trading at age sixteen. His trading helped finance his education at the University of California at Berkeley, where he graduated with honors in economics. Upon graduation, he founded Investment Research Associates to finance research on stock, bond, and currency trading systems. Mark joined forces with Fortunet, Inc. in 1986, where he developed models for hedging and trading bonds, currencies, futures, and stocks. He researched stock and bond data going back to the 1860s, with Fortunet publishing the results in the Fortunet Trading Course, beginning in 1989. While with Fortunet, Mark applied his research to the design of institutional products, such as a hedging model on over $1 billion of debt exposure for the treasurer of Mead, a Fortune 500 company. Mark also taught MBA classes on investment and had several articles published in Futures and Stocks and Commodities magazines. In 1992, Mark began managing the Midas Fund Trust, another private hedge fund no longer open to new investors. Today, Mark manages the Midas Fund, Cayman Islands, which remains open to new investors. Mark began to publish the Portfolio Strategy Letter (PSL) in 1992. U.S. growth stocks selections published in PSL (based on the criteria taught in his seminars) have been up an average of 46 percent annually. Other funds under Mark’s management have generated similar returns.

Mark also discusses the real performance of buy and hold investing in both U.S. and global equities and bonds. Next, he shares with you two fully usable models (one used by a global money manager managing billions of dollars since the early 1960s) for cutting the risk of investment in any asset class while still improving annual gains. He also shows you how to specifically use the liquidity cycle and a global multi-asset class Relative Strength matrix to further cut risk and increase returns, and to key in on top global trading sectors in futures, equities, bonds, and currencies. Mark emphasizes the concept of fuel — and how to focus your trading on sectors and vehicles that have the fundamentals, valuations, and reasons for moving substantially higher. Mark shows you how to integrate fuel with Runaway Markets — those markets and vehicles moving the fastest at any particular point in time. These are where the top trading opportunities lie. You’ll learn the specific vehicle selection criteria Mark has used to outperform the markets each year on both the long and short side — and what pattern recognition techniques he uses to enter, exit, protect, or trailing stop these vehicles with extremely low risk yet substantial potential. He shares his specific rules for taking profits and gives real-life examples from trades in offshore hedge funds. Finally, Mark discusses how he has used the techniques he teaches you to more than double the returns of the S&P and World Index with significantly less volatility and drawdown over the last decade, and how you can integrate these methods into your own trading to do the same.

The Momentum-Retracement Method for Successfully Buying Countertrend (Audio)
Many traders attempt to profit by buying declines in an uptrend and selling rallies in a downtrend. This basic approach, which has been popular since the days of tape reading and the advent of technical analysis, requires a systematic and reliable methodology. Traders must have a plan for identifying and evaluating the trend, measuring the countertrend retracement, defining a resumption of the trend, selecting an entry point, limiting the risk, trailing a stop, and exiting the trade. Tom’s Momentum-Retracement Trading Method includes logical and effective techniques for solving each of these problems. In this session you will learn how to synergize trend-following indicators, oscillators, directional movement indicators, and chart patterns. You will also learn Tom’s most profitable strategies for entering, managing, and exiting trades successfully within the framework of momentum retracement.
